I've handled mail as both a Letter Carrier and USPS Customer over over 30 years; dealt with Callers into 1-800-ask-USPS for the past almost decade. I ALWAYS discussed (or gave out) the Customers +4 numbers if they don't know it or have a problem gettig things delivered correctly or all... IT IS a good way to double check you entered your address correctly and completely.
