ThePrimeSpot.com was uploaded onto the internet 9/9/99@9am
It featured a Long Beach, CA musician
(that got signed to MCA after I funded his demo) plus the Creative Community of Long Beach. At one point in 2005 Leo
Laporte The Tech Guy called me Queen of Media when I called into his show about a podcast question. (PS I still own
Podlywood and many other urls - United and Empower, ImpeachThePres, ALL dot coms).
This was back
when I had a newspaper column LB Weekly by KaRi where I listed all of the art receptions by zip code and music gigs by VENUE
- everything listed but street corners, lol. The paper was called View from Signal Hill (totally surrounded by Long
Beach) which noone complained it was a bi-weekly publication.
TPSradio played local music from The (562)
area code, which covered more zip codes than just Long Beach. Yes, I was working for USPS back then as a carrier, and
just figured out how my Express Mail volume fell years ago and my hours were cut from 30 to 20! (Our biggest subcontractor,
NEW BREED headed by the current PMG DeJoy was awarding Jet Delivering so much EXPRESS businessm I looked into why the 2020
"Same Day Express Mail" commercial lasted on 30 days right after DeJoy started - WHO got our same day biz when the
TV cancelled 30 days after I caught it on TV (evidently Letter Carriers hadn't heard of that product yet, LOL! PTconnect
is for COMMERCIAL Express, not for Customers who baked bread and sent it across town (resulting in same day many times).
My
playlist switched from playing ANY music from The (562), all languages, all genres to playing Music of Bands with Upcoming
Gigs in The (562) when B-Tip walked in with ONE single, he and Snoop dropping fbombs on it, I KNEW I would NEVER play anthing
where a listener would hear a loud beep in place of a cuss word. <--- Doing that was the DUMBEST thing I thought
as a kid in the 70's. PLUS my radio show was VERY unique in that it was HEARD OVER THE INTERNET LIVE and SIMCULCAST
OVER LOCAL CABLE ACCESS TV. (In other words poor people without internet but only basic cable TV could HEAR local music
while watching the Community Calendar compiled by the awesome crew at LONG BEACH COMMUNITY TV. (That went dark in 2008
so I stopped my shows after a decade).
My mode of Communication was
1. REAL TIME
(became a co-op member of Gallery Eleven Seven, ran an Open Mic and THE PRIME SPOT Sound stage during the Second Saturday
Artwalk I live webcast from (using EARLY sites like mogulus, stickam, later youtube live, hangouts, etc.); attended local
gigs ( a pot of gold landed in my lap which I ate, drank, spent on local music, art, poetry chap books, events, insisting
on paying cover charge, tipping, etc. I gave the restaurant businesses mine and paid for it with a few pounds (literally!
I street teamed every coffee shop and bookstore until that fateful year "420" gigs popped up and businesses weren't
keen on displaying event postcard and flyers anymore, gggrrr!
2. AUDIO VISUAL. I am a Google GirL.
Always was, always will be. That is why I do't understand, with 2 decades of Rated G, family friendly, fun, creative,
entertaining and personal (dog, loved ones who've passed, international travel) videos EXCEPT for the recent gathering of
DeJoy's Destructive Ploy accusations by Congress (watch the 5 min.clips on youtube, search words just simply "Rep"
(representativie both Rep and Dem!) GOOGLE and YOUTUBE DELETED MY CHANNEL WITHOUT ANY WARNING. youtube.com/ThePrimeSpotcom
just disappeared like POOF which only tells me that LOUIS DEJOY Has a Mole Working Inside Google's Youtube and I will post
this until the day I die asking WHY the comp[lainer did not have to complete a complaint form against my channel in perfect
standing (except for a country musicians partial song behind a drone presentation wouldn't be played in some countries!)
3.
AUDIO "Log On, Tune In and Turn Up" to TPSradio Monday mornings at Cerritos College's wpmd 9-11am and end your week
with TPSradio at CSULB's kbeach from 9-11pm, also heard over cable access TV." I ended my show with "Thanks
for Listening" which I would then hear echoed on some English lad's REAL FM radio show.
4. PRINT:
Newspaper Column, Bumber Stickers with website url, Posters, strategically parked car by entrance/exit to convention center
promoting close by East Village events, removable graffiti (CHALK), carefully placed postcards on car windshields, sometimes
as a billboard on the back wiper. (That was me!) So obnoxious but you know it's working when the person in front of
you who doesn't speak English is driving a pickup with your bumber sticker and the tourist in the Sky Room (5star) hugs you
upon hearing "The Prime Spot" because each time he googled "Long Beach" it surfaced on GOOGLE page #1.
(Learned about SEO, Search Engine Optimization).
5. TPS eNews: Back when Onelist turned into
yahoogroups, I created a LOCAL eNEWSLETTER Written By and For the CREATIVE COMMUNITY is Long Beach. My m.o. (method
of operation) was to GOOGLE these words: "Long Beach" "562" "subscribe" and maybe even
"newsletter" THEN instead of subscribing my own solo email, I subscribed to the artist, local business, restaurant,
etc. newsletter AS theprimespot@yahoogroups. <--- EVERYtime a Press Release, weekly or monthly newsletter reached
my yahoogroups, it would become part of THE PRIME SPOT Daily Digest, allowing LOCALs to get news and events right from the
source, all in ONE newsletter!
6. SOCIAL MEDIA I ran Club562 on myspace (myspace.com/club562
featured all of the local Music Venue pages; before using twitter as my own incoming curated news source (I FOLLOW news from
ALL views and/but appreciate news directly from the entity), I experimented with it. AND it freaked me out at times!
(I'd see people I'd know at an event, and they'd come up to thank ME for letting them know about it. A friend called
my Mayor de Facto. It got scary when someone said she met me "a few times." NO, we never conversed.
(Whew! What if I WAS the MAyor and we HAD and I didn't remember? NO thanks, I will shield my identity, attend
things silently.
7. VISUALLY I shy away from the SPOTlight because of my last sentence; I enjoy
my privacy. I work BEHIND the scenes (for instance working camera for Long Beach Commuity TV producers for a bit) and
having the TPSradio Live Webcam focus on the performers not the host.
8. MUCKRAKING It is against
the rules to mention the Post Office as unofficial communication but I didn't care.; I promoted EXPRESS MAIL on TPSradio
back when it was under $20 (now it's over $30) when items actually got "from point A to point B" ON TIME.
It was literally like making touchdowns! This was before DeJoy grounded USPS' air transportation resulting in even MORE
of our Express Mail going elsewhere and me answering Customer's inquitries at 1-800-ask-USPS asking why their 2 day has been
taking 2 weeks. For FUN and as part of an Art Installation across from the downtown Long Beach Post Office (location
of ThePrimeSpot.com's PO box 562) a storefront black and white image of ME as a Winter Carrier (noone commented I was wearing
a fuzzy, winter carrier hat in the heat of sun soaked SoCaL). TODAY there are many postal employees online, on youtube
(ie. Jay H, Nick the Mailman, etc) that talk positively AND negatively about the Post Office.
9.
PHONE ThePrimeSpot Radio Show hotline outgoing message featured various information. Call it now! (562)804-5625
<--- Postal Workers will appreciate the number sequence.
10. PODCASTING When I first
started in 2005 I used podomatic. All you needed was a computer and mic and you pressed a red button. Then it
changed for a few years and now it's back (hence my long hiatus). My radio shows are all on a hard drive that disappeared
from kbeach before there was a change in management.
